I've been working on a project, for about a year now, called Mamas' Home. It's gonna be a website, an 800 number, and a small farm with a few animals where kids can just be kids hang out with other kids with the same problems. The site and the phone will be a way to connect kids and parents with our data base of professionals, doctors, therapists, churchs, agencies, and mamas who are trained to deal with ADHD, OCD, and other disorders. You can find countless articles about the drug Ritalin in the press, mostly written by people trying to sell newspapers, but very few that focus on the real problems of those who suffer from these disorders. Mamas' Home will be a place to help parents get answers before these problems become issues that tend to wreck families. I can tell you from personal experience that medication helps, but knowledge is the key that turns the tide in most cases. Mamas' Home is people helping people learn how to deal with these problems. The data base is small but growing everyday, we just added a webmaster to get the site up and a couple with the farm (for sale) Mamas' Home has gotten this far with money from my gigs and a few donations, now there is a band and a few pickers and poets willing to do fundraisers to fund the facility. I found a bus to haul them on and I'm offering one of my pedal steels for sale, it's a Day Custom single ten. I've used it on a couple of sessions but other than that it's a new guitar. It looks like a 1959 ShoBud and sounds great. I need to turn it into the rest of the down payment on the bus and get these guys and gals on the road to building Mamas' Home. This is my first public announcement of Mamas' Home and I hope you folks don't mind me using this forum.
