The fact is that the songrwiter has very little control over how a song is recorded. The publishing company can refuse to do sheet music on a song where lyrics have been changed to include language which some might not think proper. I think most songwriters enjoy hearing one of their songs done in a way that is different from the original. One of my favorites is the way that Chris Frazer recorded "Heaven Help The Child", another is Steve Young's recording of "It's Not Suposed To Be That Way", which was written and recorded by Willie for his daughter, Susie. The Metal recording of "Trilogy" is not my thing, but I hear that Mick likes it.
