Dave, I'd heard most of this before, but your story still brings tears of joy to my eyes for all of you. You are blessed to have such a wonderful family, and they're blessed to have you. I have nothing wise to say -- just that I'm very happy for all of you. (Oh, by the way, this seems like a bigger deal to me than my run in with the car.)
