Tonight on my radio show, a lady called and asked me a question. She said, "I'm reading a love novel called Sweet Memories. And in it, a character is reading the words of a song to someone. The song reads like a beautiful poem and it's called Sweet Memories. The other person asked who wrote the song, and the lady replies, 'Mickey Newbury; he's from Texas.'" My telephone caller asked me, "Is there really a song called Sweet Memories and a person called Mickey Newbury from Texas?" And I said, "Darlin' give me a few minutes and I'll play the song for you!" After I played her the song, she called back and wanted to know where she could get that song and if he had recorded any others. After I told her the songs he had written and some of the artists who have recorded his songs, she was impressed. I told her to come here and begin her much needed education in all thing Mickey. What a joy it is for me to share such great music with such eager new fans of a gentle, great man who writes songs sent from Heaven.
