Morning everyone. It's been way too long since I was able to pull up a chair here on the Porch. I hope everyone is doing well.

I may be a day late and a dollar short with this news, but I read in the "Best In Texas" magazine, September 2002 issue, about a young man named Walt Wilkins who is an up and coming Texas singer/songwriter and also a fantastic guitarist in Pat Green's band. He mentioned several fellow Texans who had and still have a great influence on his writing. Among them were such greats as Guy Clark, Hank Williams and Willie Nelson. However, the guy who affected him most of all was Mickey Newbury! I quote, "I saw him when I was 25 and that guy blew my head wide open!" Well said, Walt.

It just can't be said enough. Thanks Mick for all the great words and music that have molded so many of your lives.

Rick
