One of my votes would go to John Stewart. I discovered John six months before I met Mickey in Nashville. He's writen some great songs and had some great albums. He even had a #1 Rock hit with "Gold" sometimes in the late 1980s. His early music was country-folk style. His receint stuff is sorta folk-rock. But he has written some good lyrics. he also took Dave Guard's place in the Kingston Trio. He and Mick are the two songwriters who I love to hear them sing their own songs. Willie is the third, Don Gibson is the 4th.
