Ron, you and I have spoken about Mickey often, and you just called me with the news. This is more for his family. My heart goes out to you. I hope it helps that, in the last few years, it became so apparent that Mick had so many fans and friends throughout the world. What a blessing for so many of us, to have had the chance to reconnect with him. Mickey was unlike any artist I've ever had the pleasure of meeting and interviewing. He never thought of himself as much more than a regular guy. So unassuming. So humble. So candid. So funny. He called me just a week or so ago, just to say Hi. Sounded just fine. Still full of pride about his best work; still full of ideas for a book, a movie, a whatever. Near the end of our chat, I had a sense that it might be one of our last, but I couldn't let on. As always, I signed off with a "Take care." In many ways, he took care of a lot of us. May the highest spirits now keep him in comfort. I love you, Mick. And, as long as I can hear your beautiful music, I always will.
