I met Mickey Newberry in the early 70's when I first started getting songs published. My friend Jeff Trager introduced me to him in the town of Sausalito. We immediately hit it off, how could one not feel comfortable with Mickey in your presence. We talked of songwriting for hours in between tokes of a pipe and a beers He had a profound effect on my life as an aspiring writer. My songs have been recorded by some famous bands, the names are irrelevant. What I can tell you about Mickey is that his soul and his songs will endure the sands of time. It was his inspiration that made me want to be a songwriter. This song is for him. He is talking to all of us. I will never forget him and my favorite tune. "T Total Tommy."
