I have been gone all summer and into the Fall taking care of my Daddy who is very ill. He was doing some better and so, I came home. I hadn't been on the Porch since my parents don't have a computer and even if they did, Daddy is so ill that I couldn't have spent much time using it. And so, early last Sunday morning, my first real week-end spent at home, I thought I'll check in on my Friends on the Porch and read about Mickey.

As I sat there and read Bob's words....I thought, this can't be true. Someone has played a cruel, cruel joke. And so, I thought, I'll just call Mamie and see for myself. And so, early on Sunday morning I dialed Mamie's number and immediately I know when I heard Jerry's quiet voice.

Like the rest of you, I am very selfishly sad because that means no more phone calls, no more stories, no more singing to me over the phone, no more long, lingering talks about golf, geneology, his growing up in Texas, and all the many subjects that Mickey knews so much about. And I am glad, so very glad, he is no longer ill, no longer confined to his bed, no longer in pain. Death no longer has dominion over Mickey. And for us, "God will wipe away every tear from (our)their eyes, there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away."

He is still with us only transformed and now he belongs to the ages.

I love you Mickey! And I love all my friends on this Porch.

Never Enough Thyme,

Mary Anne
