I just have to go on record as saying that Ben has always been a great friend to Mickey and Mickey was a good friend to him as well. Even though their respective gifts made the relationship possible, it was each's respect for for the other's human qualities that continued it. When he first discovered Mick was ill, he had his sister send some special herbs. They would occasionally call each other and many times, Mickey would say: "You know, Ben is just a hell of a nice guy". Ben was gracious enough to spend part of a August morning with me recording some wonderful comments about Mickey's music and when this bio is finished, those heartfelt moments will give it a very special validation. I am in his debt.
