It took me a few days to respond to the sad news of Mickey's passing away. Just a few weeks back I asked Mick to come over to Holland and play at the Take Root festival next year. We all love his music so much and we never saw him sing over here. It was maybe the only chance I had to see Mickey in person. I tried to get in contact with him all the way back to 1972 when I first heard that voice, the voice that changed my look at music forever. Anyway, Mickey mailed me a few times in the last couple of years. Aint this what makes him so special to all of us? He took time to answer my letters. My radioshow is called Jambalaya and I made a special about Mickey's music last summer. I played a couple of his songs and it brought me a lot off reactions. People were touched very much by this man's music, they never heard of before! Mickey mailed bak that he had been on a trip with Susan for 8000 miles and when he came home there were 500 emails to answer. He answered me allright, and I think thats typical Mickey. The last words he wrote were 'Love ya pal, Mickey'. What to say?
