You have helped me so much getting through these last few days. I am far away from all the people that I know that love Mickey. Being able to come to the porch, though I don't know most of you, makes me feel closer.
I know Mickey from Perdido Key. Met him the first time he came there. It was a dream come true for Joe G. We were at the Beach house and Mickey had cut off his good pants so he could sit in the sun. We called him Mahatma Mickey as he sat cross legged, in only the shorts, on the back deck soaking up the southern sun. There was a slow but steady stream of people that would come by and sit and talk and have coffee and listen to his ideas and the always present yellow pad. It was just as all of you have discribed your visits with him. You always felt special. What a gift. My favorite pic is one I took of him sitting on the nasty floor of the poolroom at the florabama tuning his guitar in his beautiful suit and boots. So humble, so sweet!
Anyway, thanks for sharing all your memories. Thanks for listening to some of mine. I feel a bond with all of you and my prayers and thought are with you. Especially to Susan and family. Thanks for sharing him with us. Nell
