Laura Shayne,

Once your precious Daddy told me that he loved the letter that Sullivan Ballou wrote to his beloved wife, Sarah. He said he read it over and over again and I think those same words written over 140 years ago still ring true today. I can almost hear your Daddy saying them to you all. The "battlefield" that your Daddy fought so courageously for such a long time was the battle field of diesease. Here is the love letter of Sullivan Ballou..... I can almost hear your Daddy reading it aloud and saying the same things.... I love you all so very much and wish I could be there to help ease the pain you are feeling.

Never Enough Time,

Mary Anne

MY LOVE FOR YOU IS DEATHLESS, YET MY LOVE OF MY COUNTRY BEARS ME IRRESISTABLY TO THE BATTLEFIELD.......

MEMORIES OF THE BLISSFUL MOMENTS I HAVE ENJOYED WITH YOU COME CROWDING OVER ME, AND I FEEL MOST GRATEFUL TO GOD AND YOU THAT I HAVE ENJOYED THEM SO LONG......

IF I DO NOT RETURN NEVER FORGET HOW MUCH I LOVED YOU NOR THAT WHEN MY LAST BREATH ESCAPES ME ON THE BATTLEFIELD, IT WILL WHISPER YOUR NAME.........

IF THE DEAD CAN COME BACK TO THIS EARTH AND FLIT UNSEEN AROUND THOSE THEY LOVE, I SHALL BE ALWAYS WITH YOU.......

WHEN THE SOFT BREEZE FANS YOUR CHEEK IT SHALL BE MY BREATH.......OR THE COOL AIR FANS YOUR THROBBING TEMPLE IT SHALL BE MY SPIRIT PASSING BY......

SARAH, DO NOT MOURN ME.THINK I AM GONE AND WAIT FOR ME, FOR WE SHALL MEET AGAIN….
