I thought about you all this weekendand especially on Saturday about 3:00 New Mexico time. I was showing my art in Clayton and went outside about the time of Mickey's funeral to just pay a little silent homage in the midst of artshow chaos. I took up a conversation with a fellow standing outside and it turned out that he was one heck of a blues harp player that does art in the form of illustrations for a blues magazine. I asked if he knew about Mickey Newbury and he said no. I said if you haven't heard Newbury you haven't heard the blues. I gave him one of my albums and told him all about Mickey. It made me smile in that sad moment instead of shedding tears to be able to bring the music we love so well into another life. Isn't that what Mick would have wanted, a smile instead of a tear. Later, I hear the bed calling and darned if there's not a little harp music playing somewhere on that Texas wind tonight. Sweet dreams Dear Hearts, Randy
