...I'm sure we all are.
Just wanted to pass this along to my friends here.
I use a very intense music recording program and, because I am the intellectual equivalent of a houseplant, am involved in a newsgroup for tips and troubleshooting.
I posted an Off Topic message last week about Mickey and got this reply fron a young sound engineer:
""Sorry to hear of your friend's passing,...
It is the strangest thing to see this topic tonight. A few nights ago, as I do sometimes, I was driving into Midtown Memphis very late, to pick up new accounts from a mailbox at this agency. On the radio, a deejay kept playing this incredible singer, over and over, different songs with just him and his guitar. What a voice... He told the story of the young man in love in 'Shenandoah'...
I remember thinking that song was corny when I was younger. But, I mean, he did it with such emotion and power, I swear, I almost cried.
Guys like that, that stayed true as an artist and a person no matter what, they're very rare.""
The work Mickey left us is still powerful enough to effect new listeners and make a difference in peoples lives.
Bless us all.
