Hank, I just realized that I didn't tell all of that story. All during the time Mickey was playing for us, and you need to picture us all sitting on the floor ... Mickey facing in one direction and Jim and I facing him ... Mickey would sing those tender ballads with his head tilted slightly upward and his eyes closed. And while he'd be singing, Jim would scoot a little bit forward and be just a little closer to Mickey than I was. Well, I'd scoot a little closer and mover just ever so slightly past Jim. When the song would be over, and Mick would open his eyes and look at us, he'd get a weird look on his face and back up about the same distance we'd moved toward him. Then, he'd play another. And just like before, Jim would scoot forward, then I'd scoot forward, then Mick would open his eyes and wonder, again, how we'd gotten that close. Then, again, he'd back up about as far as we'd moved in toward him.

Finally, Mickey excused himself and got up to go to the bathroom. Jim immediately turned to me and said, "why do you keep scootin' up closer than me?" My reply ... "why do you keep scootin' closer than me?" Now remember, this was Jim's first meeting with Mickey, and he was a big fan. Jim's answer was priceless. He said quite innocently and seriously, "I just wanna be able to tell people I was sittin' on the front row."
