Susie, some thoughts from today. Second time Stu was going through chemo and radiation. He'd lost his voice by then. It hurt everytime he breathed or swallowed. Ensure Plus was the diet. Extra vanilla, of course. He lost 68 pounds in three months. At night when he was sleeping I'd circle his wrist with my fingers. Like the witch in Hansel and Gretel feeling bones. He'd lay back in his chair downstairs and I'd sit on the floor beside him. Everynight Mick's music took him to a place where there was no pain. If You See Her was his favorite song...the melody at the end. "That's us, babe, ridin' up over the hill," he'd say in his scratchy whisper. Mick liked that. How the music helped us live. On May 19th that year Stu called Mick and sang Happy Birthday to him. Mick, you're always with us. Love to Springfield. Love to the Porch.

PS: Susie, Stu says, "Save those cupons!"
