Dear Susie: For these past days, I've been comforting myself with Mickey's passing by reading the posts on the porch. Thank you (and your Laura) for sharing with us your thoughts and feeling. I discovered Mickey and his music while doing a DJ stint at a small radio station years ago. I think it was '66 or '67.. The song was "Remember the Good"... Since then, over the years, I've collected all of his albums (some more than one copy as I wore the tracks out}.. I can't start naming my favorite song. When I've tried I find myself just naming each song he ever did. I met him only once years ago in Nashville. I wanted to say hello, tell him how much I enjoyed his music and shake his hand. He didn't let me just do that. He engaged me in a conversation with questions about where my home was, what did I do, what was my favorite song? I told him I couldn't really pick a "favorite" as I loved them all. He pinned me down and I named a couple. "Remember the Good" I recall was one of the two I named. He treated me not as an interuption to his busy day, but, I thought as a friend. He gave me 15 minutes of his day. I believe, as I thought later, I could have spent more time with him. I felt a little uncomfortable with my imposing on him and ended the conversation myself. I believe he really had a feeling and understanding of the impact his music had on so many of us. I don't think he could ever know the impact it had on a few of us. I've meant several times these past years to contact him and try somehow to let him know what the music meant to me. I'm so sorry I put it off too long. Oh..... I'm surprised he didn't like the rain. It was a part of many of the songs. I love rain and the way he used it in his lyrics and sound effects.... My warmest and most loving thoughts for you and your family.
