Well folks this latest tribute just aired early this morning here in Tokyo on NHK radio...and this time in Japanese... (not the songs of course!)...the same dj friend included a very nice tribute to Mickey to reach the Japanese-speaking audience (The tribute last weekend was in English on a multi-lingual radio station)...

This tribute was a bit different from the one he did in English...in his choice of songs...but it, too, was very well done (in my humble opinion)... After talking about Mickey's time here for the Tokyo Music Festival in the 70's and a bit more background... he played "Cortelia Clark" (I couldn't help but think Mickey's already spent some time reunioning with Cortelia -- save a street in glory Lord....)

Then he played Ray Charles' version of "Sunshine" after talking about the over 500 covers of Mickey's music that have been done over the years... He followed with Mickey's beautiful live version of Percy Mayfield's "Please Send Me Someone to Love" from Live at Montezuma Hall...a nice tribute to Mickey as a singer I thought...and Mickey's words just before he sings it...always so humble..."I hope I can do it justice"...of course he did and so much more...the words so much reflecting I think how Mickey felt about this world he lived in...and the last bit I thought was so appropos...'just because I'm in misery..well I don't beg for no sympathy...'

Well a few more tidbits were shared about Mickey (and his train songs)...and then the tribute ended with "Just Dropped In" sung by Kenny and the 1st edition...and another mention about the website...

Sooooo... BobR and folks at Mountain Retreat...you might just be getting a few more orders from here over in the land of the rising sun...

For those of you that e-mailed me requesting copies of the first Tokyo Tribute... I hope to get to making those this weekend and mailed out...Apologies for the delay...it's been a hectic week...and I waited just in case some of you would at all be interested in me adding this second tribute (even if it is in Japanese).... If you can let me know if this would interest you at all, drop me an e-mail...I'll add this Japanese version to those of you that would like it just for fun...

Love and prayers going out to all those in need on the porch from Tokyo -- (Susan I like that knee-mail!)

April
