Mickey was pleased to know that both our daughters (born some thirteen years apart!) had been lullaby-ed with my rendition of “Goodnight”. Both our girls love that, and many others of Mickey’s songs.

I’ve spoken often of Mickey’s inspiration to my writing and I’m now thrilled to report that the inspiration is being revealed in another generation. Abigail, our younger daughter, has won 3rd prize in a worldwide poetry competition, sponsored by the Brontë society (the society that maintains and promotes the works of Ann, Charlotte and Emily). The winning poem was written by an American.

Here is Abigail’s poem

3RD PRIZE - Winter Nights by Abigail Highley, 6 years old, Leeds.

Cold dark streets, Starry and moonlit sky. A stray dog, Trying to find its way home.

Warm and cosy room, Firelight flickering. My cat curls up In the big red chair.

And the web site, showing the other two prize winners
