Ginny. I was a music major in college, so I could both read and write it ... but the whole time I was in Nashville, working there, in the business, I never knew but one or two people in the business who could read and write music. I worked for Ernest Tubb's publishing company for a while and ET used to say, "I don't know how to read or write music, and I'll kick anybody who tries to teach me." That was out of character for ET, of course, he didn't mean it ... but there was just something about the great ones. They just knew how to put the basic chord structure together and how to marry the relative minor chord to the respective major, etc. And nobody who didn't know how did it as well as The Mick did. I don't know how they all knew, but they did.
