Ginny, I was raised on a NC farm. We had 150 head of cattle, and 14 ^%%#@%$# cuttin' horses. Anybody that likes horses, I'm happy for you. But with them foaling in January, and near 'bout every one of the working mares, AND the stud havin' to be rode every day, and ME at the tender age of 10~15, I had me a bait.

I got a pair of Sears Roebuck cowboy boots when I was about 9 or 10. I wore 'em to school, with the pants on the outside, like Daddy told me. The teacher wanted to see what they looked like, and insisted I stick my jeans INSIDE 'em so everybody could see how 'pretty thay were'. Bein' anxious to please, and respecting an authority figure, I complied.

Well, I got off the bus that afternoon, and there was Daddy, sitting on the front porch. He saw those jeans inside those boots, and met me halfway from the house! He whipped me, and told me I 'looked like a drugstore cowboy', that cowboys, or whoever raised livestock, NEVER wore their jeans INSIDE! You wore 'em outside, to protect the boots. We couldn't afford to buy boots all the time, so I learned a lesson. When I see 'hat acts' on TV, I always think about that.

Not to say, by any means, that Mick and Meeks are hat acts, that picture, and your follow up just reminded me.

Someday I'll tell you about the time I laid my Bailey straw brim-down on the table.....
